Academic Affairs Administration | AdministrationThe Associate Vice Provost for Workforce Development and Innovation involves collaborating with all colleges and regional campuses to develop workforce programs, including new or revised degree programs, certificates, and micro-credentials, while enhancing experiential learning and working closely with Ohio State Online. Oversees the development of career pathways from Ohio’s high schools and community/technical colleges to Ohio State, initially focusing on Columbus City Schools and Columbus State Community College and scaling regionally and statewide. This position represents OSU in regional and state workforce development interactions, establishes connections with workforce development organizations, coordinates regional and statewide activities, and develops a regional strategy for coordinated workforce development efforts, working with the Office of Corporate Partnerships.
Duties/Responsibilities
50% Academic Program Development
Works with 15 colleges and 4 regional campuses on workforce development programming
- New or revised degree programs (undergraduate, graduate, professional), certificates, stackable certificates and micro-credentials, professional and continuing education.
- Works to enhance experiential learning.
- Works closely with Ohio State Online.
- Develops and implements appropriate assessment methods.
- Works closely with the University Senate’s Council on Academic Affairs.
- Serves on the Academic Program Advisory Committee.
25% Oversees Development of career “pathways” from Ohio’s high schools and community and technical colleges to Ohio State in high demand workforce areas.
- Gives initial attention to expanding Columbus City Schools and Columbus State Community College pathways, with a goal of scaling to others across the region and state.
- Includes identifying existing or new academic pathways, and/or related “supplemental” credentials.
- Includes helping develop strong direct and continuous connections with high school teachers, such as next steps with STEAMM Rising, and with high school students such as next steps with the Science Olympiad, and coordination of related ongoing events.
25% Serves as OSU representative/leader on regional and state interactions on workforce development.
- Establishes connections with organizations engaged in workforce development talent.
- Help convene/coordinate regional and statewide activities (conferences, workshops, meetings) of current organizations that focus on workforce development but remain uncoordinated.
- Help develop a regional strategy/plan for coordinated efforts on workforce development. Works with the Office of Corporate Partnerships.
