Senior Software Engineer - Relational Databases

Enterprises of all sizes trust Abnormal Security’s cloud products to stop cybercrime. These products are data intensive SaaS applications that depend on reliable, scalable, and secure access to data. This is where our Data Platform team fits in, enabling efficient, reliable and scalable data processing across both realtime and offline processing systems. 

Abnormal Security is looking to add a Senior Software Engineer to level up their use of Relational Databases (Postgresql) to support the hyper-growth of the business. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to partner closely with our existing world class team of engineers as we define and build the next generation data platform.

What you will do 

• Scale and optimize our use of online datastores (relational databases in particular) in critical services.
• Introduce and promote best practices for operating relational databases on the AWS cloud with high efficiency and excellence.
• Work cross functionally with R&D teams to identify scalability gaps in their data intensive systems, build and execute on plans to mitigate them.
• Define and deliver our data platform offerings across AWS, Azure to empower and delight our internal engineering customers. 

Must Haves 

• Strong background in relational database concepts (we primarily use Postgresql on Amazon RDS), scalability and operational experience.
• 5+ years of experience working on data-intensive applications and distributed systems.
• Excellent ability and strong desire to onboard and mentor other engineers.

Nice to Haves

• Prior experience in up-leveling the use of Postgresql databases in a tech startup to support their growth and scale.

Base salary range:$175,800—$206,800 USD
