Summary:

We invite applications for a faculty position in the Division of Business and Management at the rank of visiting assistant professor, commensurate with experience.  A PhD in Hospitality or a related field is preferred though a master’s in hospitality management or a related field will also be considered.  We particularly value high-quality teachers who have enthusiastically and successfully combined professional work experience with academic scholarship. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with undergraduate and graduate students in a student-centered, liberal arts-based environment, teaching all levels of Hospitality and Management classes throughout our on-campus, off-campus, and online program delivery formats.  The faculty member will teach a variety of courses which could include Introduction to Hospitality Management, Principles of Food Production and Service Management, Hospitality Law and Risk Management, among others. Visiting Assistant Professors have three-year renewable appointments.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Teach hospitality, tourism, specialty operations, management, and related courses to our undergraduate and graduate students in all our program formats.
  • Previous teaching experience, especially in online modalities is preferred.
  • Demonstrate continuing professional and educational growth by generating and maintaining a research agenda worthy of reappointment.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to Business and Management Division majors.
  • Participation in Keuka College functions and community activities.
  • Contribute to the Division of Business & Management's on-going accreditation processes.
  • Ensure that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Hospitality or a related field preferred. 
  • Master’s in hospitality management or related focus considered.
  • Demonstrated interest and potential for excellence in teaching.
  • Appropriate Hospitality professional experience a plus.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff, and the public.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting of boxes, supplies, etc., generally less than 30lbs.
  • Some evening and weekend hours required
