Job Summary

Working under the supervision of a Senior Research Assistant, Manager or Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, provides assistance on clinical research studies.

Supervisor available to handle unusual situations and regularly reviews progress of work.

Essential Functions
-Collects and organizes patient data.

-Maintains records and databases.

-Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports.

-Recruiting patients for clinical trials, conducts phone interviews and schedules patients for visits.

-Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.

-Conducts library searches.

-Performs administrative support duties as required.

-Verifies accuracy of study forms.

-Updates study forms per protocol.

-Prepares data for analysis and data entry.

-Assists with formal audits of data.

-Documents patient visits and procedures.

-Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC procedures.

-Assists with interviewing study subjects.

-Administers and scores questionnaires.

-Provides basic explanation of study and in some cases obtains informed consent from subjects.

-Performs study procedures such as phlebotomy.

-Assists with study regulatory submissions.

-Writes consent forms.

-Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria.

1-full-time Research Assistant (RA) position is available working with Emily Belleau, PhD (Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School, https://www.mcleanhospital.org/profile/emily-belleau), within McLean Hospital’s Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research, which is devoted to the study of depression, anxiety, and related conditions (http://cdasr.mclean.harvard.edu). My research program focuses on investigating neural mechanisms underlying risk for and progression of major depressive disorder (MDD) and other stress-related disorders. To pursue these goals, I incorporate a multimodal approach including task-based and resting state functional neuroimaging, behavioral paradigms to probe cognitive and affective processes critically implicated in these disorders, comprehensive assessments of life stress histories, and use smartphone and smartwatch technology to examine “real world” dynamic affective processes. As a member of our scientific team, you will work closely with Dr. Belleau, fellow research assistants, and student interns. You will gain hands-on experience with recruiting and screening both healthy and depressed/”at risk” teens and adults, as well as conducting experimental procedures with them.
