This role involves providing Second Tier support for computer administration in engineering and operations labs for new and non-standard/legacy systems. The responsibilities include deploying and maintaining small/medium-sized compute environments that are firewalled from the production network, as well as production floor and other lab environments. The team supports different Microsoft operating systems ranging from DOS to Windows 11, and various Linux distributions such as Ubuntu and Redhat. The hardware platforms supported include desktops, laptops, industrial PCs, workstations, and servers.
**This position is onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA**
Primary Responsibilities:
Demonstrates excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Works under limited supervision to aid in one or more disciplines within IT (e.g., business, and technical application, IT infrastructure, security and compliance, desktop support, etc.).
Demonstrates problem solving and analytical skills, particularly with PC, server, & printer hardware
Conducts basic documentation activities, including operation documents, user feedback, contributions to team notes, user manuals, etc.
Provides end users with desktop and system support to solve basic problems.
Coordinates installation of hardware, software, operating systems, and network hardware.
Coordinates system maintenance, updates, upgrades, and enhancements.
Stores and retrieves data of system capabilities and operation performance.
Installs, configures, administers, supports, and maintains systems, including associated hardware assets.
Identifies, prioritizes, researches, and resolves problems.
Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems.
Makes decisions affecting user access.
Performs a variety of duties in support of computer, network, and client server units.
Resolves difficult customer situations and escalate issues when appropriate.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR in the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required OR A Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and less than 2 years of relevant experience.
Must be able to work Onsite at the Cedar Rapids, IA location.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of PC hardware and excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work independently.
