Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to support the Strategic Planner in developing, executing, and monitoring the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection organizational strategic plan. The Business Analyst will play a key role in gathering data, conducting analysis, facilitating communication, and ensuring milestones and objectives are achieved. This position will require collaboration across multiple departments to gather insights and help align the organization’s strategic goals with operational activities.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Gather and analyze information, business processes, and internal performance metrics to support the development of the strategic plan.
• Assist in breaking down long-term strategic goals into actionable milestones and timelines.
• Assist with the development of detailed roadmaps outlining key activities, timelines, and resources required for strategic plan execution.
• Assist with identifying risks and opportunities related to the implementation of the strategic plan and propose mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure strategic initiatives stay on track, maintaining project plans, tracking progress, and updating timelines as necessary.
• Assist in resolving challenges or barriers to execution, offering data-driven insights to support decision-making.
• Recommend adjustments to the strategic plan based on outcomes, new data, and emerging requirements.

Experience Requirements:

Mandatory: 4 years of directly related professional experience as a Business analyst or working as a strategic planner.

Waiverable/Substitutable: No

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Customs and Border Protection business processes
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data
• Previous POM experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus
