As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you play a vital role in supporting safe, timely medication use for patients throughout their hospital stay. At Cleveland Clinic, you’ll be part of a collaborative care team that encourages professional and personal growth, helps you expand your clinical and technical skills, and supports you in finding your place within the organization. You will do far more than prepare and distribute medications. You will help ensure accuracy in medication management, support caregivers across the hospital, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, their families, and your fellow caregivers.
This position is for a variety of open opportunities across Cleveland Clinic Location in Northeast Ohio. If you have applied to a site specific role, there is no need to apply to this position.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED
Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months
Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
