This position is responsible for the gathering and transfer of technical, diagnostic and clinically related information in order to facilitate quality and timely patient care services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Accurately performs computer order entry, including appropriate downtime procedure.
2. Measures, records and mounts EKG strips as per policy.
3. Accurately identifies basic and major dysrhythmia and reports changes to RN. Infor: Conducts
EKG procedures including positioning patient, proper lead placement, troubleshooting artifact
and adjustment to voltage and paper speed; includes adequate wave form acquisition, transmis
sion, analysis, interpretation and storage
4. Takes initiative to keep equipment readily available by storing appropriately and locating it when missing. Infor: Ensures that patients receive proper instruction and collects necessary patient information/demographics
5. Demonstrates effective communication strategies by keeping charge nurse, clinical coordinator and manager informed, reading communication and memo books and checking mailbox at least every week. Infor: Accurately identifies basic and major dysrhythmia and reports changes to RN
6. Demonstrates knowledge and skills for equipment use. Includes set up, operation, calibration, cleaning, and maintenance.
7. 8. Ensures that patients receive proper instruction and collects necessary patient information/demographics. Infor: Keeps charge nurse, clinical coordinator and manager informed, reading communication, memo books and checking mailbox at least every week.
9. Orders supplies when needed through department procedures.
10. Serves as a resource person for other staff regarding cardiovascular diagnostics and cardiac health and rehab.
11. Provides patients with education relating to CAD/risk factors and primary and secondary prevention.
12. Demonstrates knowledge and skill for electrocardiography, cardiac stress testing, holter and event recorder procedures.
13. Demonstrates knowledge and cognitive understanding of the basic clinical applications of stress testing.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or equivalency required
2. Current American Current American Heart Association - CPR Health Care Provider
3. Ability to read, write and explain or describe information to patients/customers and hospital staff.
4. Attention to detail.
5. Must demonstrate effective communication skills.
6. Entry level to one-year experience in allied health field.
7. BCA knowledge required.
8. Must successfully complete basic cardiac arrythmia classes (new hires).
