Director, Copyright Administration

Your primary mission is to successfully lead a best-in-class Copyright team, serving as a leader and a subject matter expert within Rights and Royalties. You will build strong relationships with co-publishers, BMG’s songwriters, and publishing partners. Additionally, you will collaborate with international colleagues across various departments to ensure our global strategy. Your approach will focus on creating innovative solutions and solving problems.

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing.

  • Managing a team of copyright professionals responsible for AV & Information Services.
  • Designing and implementing workflows and workflow tracking in your area of responsibility.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in multi-departmental processes and collaborating with peers to address them.
  • Developing KPIs and regular reporting for your teams.
  • Providing development and support for your team.
  • Overseeing and supporting the end-to-end processes for AV Admin.
  • Managing relationships and high level processes with priority AV clients.
  • Ensuring Terminations and Options are processed timely and correctly.
  • Facilitating process for all chain of title and infringement work.
  • Managing internal and external inquiries supported by the Copyright Team.
  • Completing various ad-hoc projects or duties that arise within the scope of the team’s responsibility.

 

 

Must Haves.

  • Proven experience in a relevant field, ideally including experience in people management.
  • Deep understanding of Copyright Administration at a large publisher, label, and/or licensing collective.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Experience in workflow/project management and their related tools, with a proven ability to implement change in complex environments.
  • Passionate about building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of music publishing rights and industry best practices.
  • Relationship and customer service-oriented in your approach.
  • Excellent time management skills, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Skilled in delegating tasks effectively and appropriately.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to track and manage multiple concurrent projects to completion.
  • Capable of leading cross-functional teams to drive project success.
  • You embody a proactive mindset, preferring “Let me find out” over “I don’t know.”
