WSP is currently initiating a search for a Field Services Technician- Operations and Maintenance to join our team in Belle Rose, LA The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power and Energy Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.  

Your Impact

  • Operations and maintenance:
  • Operating pumps motors and equipment for brine facility adjusting flow rates and tank/pit levels. (process operator)
  • Maintenance for brine facility including but not limited to oil changes valve changes seal and packing changing and adjustments.
  • Supports field operations by assisting with routine construction, maintenance, and environmental service tasks, under the direct supervision of more experienced technicians. Engages in hands-on learning and skill development related to site inspections, sample collection, equipment operation, and documentation practices. Contributes to field teams by performing clearly defined responsibilities that promote environmental stewardship, public safety, and the operational readiness of fieldwork activities. Gains exposure to industry tools, service standards, and regulatory practices relevant to infrastructure and environmental services.
  • Assist with routine field tasks such as tool setup, basic material handling, and site organization under direct supervision.
  • Follow clear instructions to help collect simple environmental samples and record basic field observations.
  • Transport and stage equipment and supplies for technician or crew use.
  • Perform simple data entry, labeling, or documentation using standard field forms and checklists.
  • Observe and learn site safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support senior staff by cleaning tools, loading equipment, and preparing sample containers.
  • Assist with maintaining field gear and vehicles in orderly condition.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, job site orientations, and basic safety briefings.
  • Ask questions and seek clarification when unsure of procedures or field conditions.
  • Recognize and report unsafe conditions, malfunctioning equipment, or unclear instructions to supervisors.
  • Develop awareness of field terminology, sampling procedures, and data quality concepts.
  • Help with post-job cleanup and safe disposal of consumables and waste.
  • Perform manual labor in support of basic fieldwork activities.
  • Use hand tools as instructed and only under supervision.
  • Support simple observation or measurement tasks such as reading a gauge or recording a distance.
  • Follow guidance for labeling samples, organizing supplies, and loading vehicles.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and communication regarding assignments.
  • Work cooperatively with crew members and maintain professional behavior in the field.
  • Develop basic understanding of how to navigate fieldwork safely and responsibly.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

 

WHO YOU ARE

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience or demonstrated interest in field service work, environmental science, mechanical systems, or related trades.
  • Basic understanding of personal safety and the importance of following health and safety policies.
  • Ability to take direction and apply feedback constructively to improve performance.
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to attendance, punctuality, and meeting team expectations.
  • Willingness and physical ability to perform hands-on work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, climbing, or walking for extended periods.
