Pharmacy Intern
PRN, Second Shift
Pharmacy Services I Lexington, KY
The Department of Pharmacy Services of Baptist Health Lexington provides pharmaceutical services to patients across the continuum of care. These services include, but are not limited to verification of medication orders, drug distribution, sterile product preparation, hazardous drug preparation, and utilization of automated dispensing cabinets. In addition, decentralized pharmacists provide services such as management of pharmacy dosing consults, provision of drug information, therapeutic recommendations, and participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
Description:
- Prepares non-sterile compounding in accordance with USP 795.
- Handles controlled substances following pharmacy policies.
- Performs necessary calculations accurately.
- Familiarity with medication formulary and standard abbreviations.
- Prepares sterile compounds hazardous and non-hazardous) in accordance with guidelines and regulations.
- Identifies stock needed for compounding sterile products, orders supply, and maintains inventory.
- Trains new staff, oversees training of new staff, students, and residents.
- Works on cost containment of compounded sterile products.
- Performs environmental testing of the sterile compounding environment.
