This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be a part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists that help design and develop rocket engines and propulsion systems that meet Blue Origin’s launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the structural analysis work of a rocket engine program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will help design and develop rocket engines and propulsion systems that meet Blue Origin’s launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems.

  • You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the structural analysis work of a rocket engine program. Be an integral part of our engine development team by conducting detailed structural analyses using FEA and classical methods on propellant control valves, mounting brackets, and component details.

  • You will provide mentorship to other structural engineers to improve the performance of designs.

  • Additional responsibilities may include authoring or reviewing structural reports to support requirements, collaborating with IPT teams to ensure deliverables are met on schedule, and working with program and functional leadership to tackle structural problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering

  • 6+ years of experience in structural analysis utilizing commercial FEA tools

  • Must have experience with structural modeling of pressurized components, rocket engine hardware, or similar high-performance hardware.

  • Excellent understanding of structural analysis/mechanics, Statics, Fatigue, Fracture, Dynamics

  • Ability to work optimally in teams.

  • Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to communicate analysis results effectively.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical/ Workbench

  • Knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python/MATLAB/etc.)

  • Experience with structural modeling of aerospace or comparably critical equipment


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00

Other site ranges may differ
