Role Overview

The Consultant role is responsible for providing a chargeable service to clients in the development of industry specific systems mostly aligned to projects. This role involves consulting assignments, building and installing turnkey business solutions. The Consultant defines the client needs and develops a plan and proposal for delivery of the project.

Role Responsibilities

The Consultant is responsible for (but not limited to):

Designing and developing high quality business solutions and other projects. Developing and delivering high quality, detailed technology solutions through consulting project activities.

Evaluating customer’s business needs with input to strategic planning of business systems and directions - thus contributing to customers strategic planning and eventual rollout of digital change roadmaps.

Assuming accountability for defined assignments/projects often involving immediate action or short-term planning of human and other resources.

Liaising with customers during preliminary installation and testing of developed software solutions or products.

Planning and coordinating resources necessary to complete product implementation.

Assisting with the preparation of sales proposals.

Assisting in diagnosing projects experiencing difficulties and guiding them to a successful conclusion.

Being accountable for defined assignments/projects often involving immediate action or short-term planning of human and other resources.

Liaising with customers during preliminary installation and testing of developed software solutions or products.

Recognising and promptly advising management of potential problems and for potential follow-on business opportunities.

Technical responsibilities, including problem identification, system architecture definition, hardware/software specification and/or design, implementation, testing, client training, and solution deployment.

Project management activities include interaction with company and client managers and cost/schedule monitoring.

Recognising and promptly advising management of potential problems and for potential follow-on business opportunities.

Ensuring project briefs, responses, service estimates and other presales documentation are created reviewed and released in line with Datacom and client expectations.

Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.

Building productive internal/external working relationships.

Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

Combining proven consulting frameworks with your wealth of experience and expertise to provide high value consulting, coaching and workshop services for Datacom teams and customers.

Working with customer and Datacom’s technical delivery teams as they implement strategic roadmap items, to ensure they are aligned to strategic outcomes and supported with people and process change for success.

Maintaining budgeted revenue target in line with team/project KPIs and metrics, actively seeking to eliminate rework in delivery.

Managing a team of consultants, dependent on size and scope of client project.

Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.
