Associate Research Scientist II - Food Formulation

Job title: Food Formulation Scientist

Salary Range: $78,875/yr - $102,074/yr, plus bonus

Location: Ada, MI

Are you passionate about creating innovative and high-quality supplement products that improve the health and wellbeing of consumers around the world? Do you have the skills and experience to lead the formulation design and development of various products, such as gummies and protein shakes? If so, you may be the perfect fit for our Formulation Scientist position.

 

As a Formulation Scientist, you will:

• Work with a cross-functional team of experts to design, develop, and optimize food products that meet customer taste, stability and regulatory requirements
• Lead focus groups to ensure wide product appeal
• Lead the innovation and technology assessment of new ingredients and processes for product development
• Review scientific literature and conduct experiments to evaluate the stability, efficacy, and safety of formulations
• Collaborate with our internal manufacturing plants or co-manufacturers to ensure the successful transfer and scale-up of formulations
• Prepare and present technical reports, documents, and presentations to support product development and regulatory submissions

 

Your key deliverable in this role will be ensuring that your formulations meet the profile and cost parameters provided by our Marketing teams. A secondary deliverable is ensuring that you are always thinking about innovation, finding new ways to deliver, new ingredients, new partnerships, etc. 

 

Required qualifications:

• Industry experience in food chemistry, agriculture, or nutrition (Internships are acceptable)
• Master’s degree in Food Science or similar           
  • A Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience is also acceptable
• Prior experience in Statistics

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

• Proven exposures in scouting new technologies, ingredient assessments, formula and delivery form design, and product profile design
• Progressive experiences in formulation design from bench top development, to pilot scale up, thru manufacturing/commercialization
• Strong communication skills with talent to work both independently and with a team, as well as cross culturally
• Customer focused mindset demonstrating support for competing priorities
