Position Summary: The Industrial Wellness Specialist will complete key day-to-day operations of services for assigned client programs.  This position will perform on-site services such as injury prevention training, job analysis, ergonomic analysis, post offer employment testing, monthly reporting, and coordinating patients to physicians or near site locations. 

                                                                                                                                       

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide injury prevention and/or behavioral based safety training services at assigned industrial site.
  • Lead training sessions in a one-on-one, small group or classroom-based setting.
  • Perform field services as assigned such as job analysis, post offer-employment program design and execution in the clinic, computer workstation ergonomics assessments, and client workforce trainings.
  • Coordinate and deliver orientation for new employees with client programs.
  • Partner with Athletico physical therapists, to provide information on client’s job duties and functional rehab program design to maximize return to work potential. Complete onsite visit after client has returned to work.
  • Provide support to internal departments as needed in the development of comprehensive program clients.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, accredited Physical Therapy Educational Program or related field.
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year in face-to-face customer service-related field
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • NATABOC Certified, in good standing preferred
    • Board of Medicine licensed Athletic Trainer, in good standing in practicing state preferred
    • Athletic/fitness industry related national certification from an accepted certifying agency preferred
    • Ergonomic certifications preferred
    • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential or a national certification from and accepted certifying agency (NSCA, ACSM, NASM) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of physical therapy or related medical services
    • Experience working with patients in an occupational or industrial field preferred
    • Knowledge of physical therapy or related medical services
    • Ability to effectively communicate instructions both verbally and written
    • Ability to keep worker’s information confidential and communicate appropriately
    • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions/instructions
    • Ability to relate positively with workers, therapists, and co-workers
    • The shipyard operates 24/7 and will at times require a variable work schedule

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Office:
    • Ability to fulfill office activities including but not limited to remain stationary (i.e. while working at a desk), stoop/kneel/crawl, travel around the office, communicate with others (verbal and written), and use fine motor skills including fine hand manipulation and keyboarding.
    • Work may also be performed off site at locations such as a clinic, home office, or employer job site which may have different working conditions.
  • Primary work area is an Industrial site:
    • Shipyard >50% of workday is outside, often in inclement weather. To safely access shipboard work employee needs to be able to:
      • Walk extensively in excess of one mile on uneven terrain
      • Walk up and down inclined gangways safely
      • Climb stairs on a frequent basis
      • Climb up and down vertical ladders on an occasional basis
