Why You Will Love this Job:
The Business Development Manager - Utility & Commercial Energy Solutions will report to the Sales Director, US.
This is a remote position with about 40% travel across North America.
Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to expand Clarke Energy’s footprint in the demand response and distributed generation markets.
Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders including utilities, aggregators, microgrid developers, and large energy consumers.
Educate prospective clients on the value of Clarke Energy’s DR solutions, including revenue generation, grid support, and energy cost savings.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to create tailored proposals, financial models, and ROI analyses.
Lead responses to RFPs and utility programs, ensuring alignment with technical and commercial requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with ISOs, utilities, DR aggregators, and regulatory bodies.
Monitor and interpret DR policies, grid regulations, and incentive programs across various markets.
Represent Clarke Energy at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote DR capabilities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering ongoing support for DR participation and system optimization.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, product management, and project development teams to customize solutions.
Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product development and go-to-market strategies.
Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline data, and customer records in CRM systems.
Ensure that Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management policies and procedures are adhered to in all work undertaken.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Energy Management, or related field (desirable)
Minimum 5 years in sales, business development, or technical sales within power generation, energy markets, or demand response
Proven track record in developing sales strategies, closing deals, and achieving revenue targets
Experience working with utilities, aggregators, and large energy users
Exposure to CHP systems, gas engines, or distributed generation technologies (desirable)
Familiarity with ISO/RTO markets (e.g., PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, NYISO) and utility interconnection processes
Knowledge of emissions regulations and energy storage integration
Strong understanding of engineering practices and Clarke Energy products
Technical and commercial expertise in distributed energy resources, demand response programs, and flexible gas engine applications
Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental management policies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Strong commercial acumen and customer-centric mindset
Analytical thinker with proactive problem-solving abilities
Self-motivated, results-driven, and resilient under pressure
