This role supports the mission by providing steady, hands-on leadership across the production floor. The Production Assistant Manager focuses on the daily health of production by keeping workflow moving, teams supported, and priorities clear throughout each shift. The role works closely with Department Leads and serves as the primary production point of contact for Dispatch, ensuring production readiness and constraints are clearly communicated.
In addition to operational leadership, the Production Assistant Manager serves as a ministry team member of New Horizons Ministries and plays an active role in shaping and sustaining a Christ-centered, values-driven culture within the Production Center.
Additional tasks may be assigned as needed, with consideration given to current workload and responsibilities.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Production Floor Leadership
Provide day-to-day leadership across the production floor to maintain consistent workflow.
Oversee production operations across Household, Clothing, Linens, Shoes, Jewelry & Accessories, and Books
Set daily and shift priorities based on volume, staffing, and operational needs
Adjust labor between departments to support production flow
Monitor workflow and respond to bottlenecks, staffing gaps, or volume changes
Support Department Leads in maintaining productivity and quality standards
Manage breaks and ensure proper coverage throughout the shift
Open and close production shifts when applicable
Communicate expectations clearly throughout the day
Production Coordination with Dispatch
Support smooth logistics execution through clear communication and production readiness.
Serve as the production point of contact for Dispatch during the shift
Communicate production readiness, staging status, and capacity constraints
Communicate timing impacts when production flow changes
Coordinate internally so loads are staged and ready within planned windows
Translate dispatch updates into production priorities as needed
Load Staging and Warehouse Support
Ensure product and materials are staged and organized to support production flow.
Maintain clear staging areas for outbound product, recycling, and transfers
Ensure bins, pallets, and warehouse materials are available to support production
Maintain organized storage areas to reduce downtime and confusion
Communicate space or capacity constraints to the Production Center Manager
Recycling and Waste Readiness
Maintain on-site readiness of recycling and waste operations.
Monitor recycling output and ensure loads are staged and ready
Ensure load paperwork is accurate and available at pickup
Track electronics recycling volume and communicate readiness for scheduling
Monitor dumpsters and waste areas for cleanliness, safety, and capacity
Ensure dumpsters and metal bins are compacted and ready for swap
Equipment, Inventory, and Facility Support
Maintain readiness of equipment, supplies, and facilities needed for production.
Monitor inventory of production and warehouse supplies
Ensure forklifts and production equipment are available and operational
Identify maintenance needs and communicate them appropriately
Support minor facility needs and escalate larger repairs
Monitor fuel levels and communicate when refills are needed
Team Support, Safety, and Ministry Culture
Support people while maintaining safety, standards, and ministry alignment.
Support Department Leads and team members during daily operations
Coordinate forklift training and certification for new team members
Address safety concerns and operational issues as they arise
Reinforce safety procedures and workplace standards
Model New Horizons values through professionalism, respect, and service
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and spiritual development activities
Workplace Environment
Physical Conditions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a fast-paced production environment
Exposure to dust, cleaning supplies, changing temperatures, and used goods is common
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be
