Associate General Counsel, Commercial
The Associate General Counsel, Commercial provides legal, regulatory, and compliance support to the commercial organization, with a primary focus on reviewing promotional materials and external communications. The position partners closely with Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Compliance to ensure commercial activities align with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. The role also contributes to guidance, policies, and training that support compliant commercialization of pharmaceutical products.
What Will You Do
Commercial & Promotional Review
- Review and approve promotional and external communications (print, digital, social media, speaker materials) for regulatory and legal compliance.
- Advise on product claims, labeling, advertising, and promotional strategy.
- Participate in cross‑functional promotional review processes to support efficient workflows.
- Support product launches, including review of launch materials, field tools, and training content.
Marketing & Commercial Support
- Partner with commercial teams to develop compliant promotional strategies that support business objectives.
- Advise on sales force activities, speaker programs, advisory boards, and customer engagement models.
- Provide guidance on digital and data‑driven marketing, including use of customer data, analytics, and emerging technologies.
- Support discount, patient support, and co‑pay assistance programs in collaboration with Compliance.
Compliance, Policy & Training
- Collaborate with Compliance on monitoring, audits, investigations, and corrective actions related to commercial activities.
- Draft and maintain policies and procedures related to advertising, promotion, and commercial conduct.
- Develop and deliver training on legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Stay current on regulatory guidance, enforcement trends, and industry best practices.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, and external vendors.
- Support claims substantiation strategies and ensure appropriate use of data and references.
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to cross‑functional stakeholders.
How Will You Get Here
Required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- 5–7 years of legal experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry, or relevant law firm experience.
- Strong knowledge of laws and regulations governing pharmaceutical promotion and marketing.
- Experience reviewing promotional materials and managing legal risk in a commercial setting.
- High ethical standards and attention to detail.
Preferred
- In‑house experience supporting commercial or marketing teams.
- Experience with digital and social media compliance.
- Familiarity with promotional review committees and industry codes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
