About the Job

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences is seeking a full-time, board-certified Ophthalmologist. The position will include an active clinical practice at the M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center in Minneapolis, MN. This position will be on the Academic Track hiring at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  The position will require supervising, mentoring and teaching medical students, residents and fellows along with other curriculum development responsibilities. The successful candidate will participate in research projects and other academic/scholarly activities either as a collaborator or independent researcher, and participate in faculty development activities tailored to the candidate's career interests and goals.  

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Ophthalmology residency and fellowship training program in medical retina
  • Board eligible/certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology
  • Licensed or ability to obtain the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff
  • Understands and places importance on patient care/service

About the Department

The missions of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences are teaching, research, service and provision of excellent clinical service. Primary academic missions of the department are to teach medical students, post-M.D. trainees (residents and fellows) and students in allied health programs and to advance knowledge in ophthalmology through basic scientific and clinical research endeavors. More at  https://www.ophthalmology.umn.edu/

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary  at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $58,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary at the Assistant Professor rank will be $300,000. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
