We now want to make fossil free living possible within one generation and we are driving the transition to a sustainable energy system.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>Are you ready to operate our Linux environment in six Datacenters, with one thousand systems storing 7 million gigabyte in Sweden, Germany &amp; the Netherlands?</p><p> </p><p>As our Linux Engineer you will come to work in an international team, operating mainly our Red Hat on premise environment. Our strategy is “cloud first”, however, due to local legislation much of our data must be stored on-premise. Therefore, securely operating our own Datacentres in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands is crucial for us. We are at the beginning of a transition towards a software defined data center; operating Linux to the cloud and of fully automating our storage solutions. A journey we would like you to actively be part of!</p><p> </p><p>You can imagine a secure and stable operations is crucial being a utility company. You can play a key role in providing this stable, secure and solid operations across the whole scope of our energy operations in Europe.  </p><p> </p><p>You and your colleagues will be responsible for all infrastructure on-premise operations, and you will co-assist in supporting Linux in the Cloud. At the moment we are in the build up phase of a new datacenter, building a new environment from scratch. You and your colleagues will be working on:</p><ul><li>Datacenter operations for all Linux servers in our six Datacenters and their satellites across Europe</li><li>Server virtualisation (VMWare Solutions)</li><li>Physical server solutions</li><li>Hardware- and operating system evaluation</li><li>Design and deploy new services</li></ul><p>Here your main responsibilities will be to:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Operate the overall Linux infrastructure for the whole Vattenfall group from an infrastructure operations perspective</li><li>Act as technical expert related to Linux architecture and solutions towards other IT departments</li><li>Design and improvement of the current infrastructure landscape as well as adjusting it to our standards and designs (both on-premise and cloud)</li><li>Participate in international IT projects bringing in your Linux expertise</li><li>Participate in on-call service</li><li>Drive automation (Ansible scripting)</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><strong>Our ideal candidate</strong></p><p>Will you help us becoming fossil free in one generation? Are you ready to contribute to that goal by creating a stable and secure infrastructure?  And do you have experience with Linux Operating Systems and are you comfortable speaking English? Then please apply!</p><p>Furthermore, ideally you bring some of the below:</p><ul><li>Some knowledge in Spark Solaris or AIX and x86 Linux operating systems and hardware</li><li>Some knowledge in ITIL and IT security</li><li>Some knowledge of Cloud concepts (preferable Azure)</li><li>Some understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS</li><li>Some experience in Bash scripting or/and Perl scripting</li></ul><p>You like to challenge yourself and others on how to improve,  you are open to suggestions from others, but can also give suggestions yourself. This job requires some limited international traveling.
