Dow has an opening for a Senior NA Rail Operations Leader. The preferred located is Midland, MI but other locations in Texas and Louisiana would be considered!
About you and this role
This role serves as the people leader for the North America Rail Operations Team. The position plays a critical role in Supply Chain Rail Logistics by ensuring site rail service from mainline carriers is above market for NA and ensuring the fleet remains reliable through proper maintenance and positioned with railcars at the right place and time at best cost. The role drives value through improved event resiliency, service, and sustainability in the tactical timeframes. This role will work collaboratively across the Rail Logistics department, Integrated Supply Chain (Business, Customer Service, Site Operations, DSS and DSB) and Modal Procurement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coach NA Operations Team
- Improve and document work process aligned to tactical service and fleet operations.
- Integration of cross functional best practices, documentation and operating discipline including rail web site and file share.
- Lead rail operations team to properly execute railcar movements as well as executing on maintenance activities as planned for the Dow fleets.
- Work with rail 3PLs (carriers and maintenance providers) to ensure best level of service, through established KPI targets and action plans.
- Facilitate rail business meetings to ensure modal and business alignment.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met for rail movement and fleet maintenance.
- Ensure operating discipline of rail fleet work processes and best practices.
- Act as focal point for North America Rail Advocacy Team, providing rail operational insights to the team.
- Act as NA Rail Focal Point for NA Logistics Leadership Team.
- Acts as RCI team Lead for P1 events.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills:
- Possess strong people leadership skills, positive interpersonal skills, teamwork, organizational, problem solving and facilitation.
- Strong technical skills in GVP, or ability to quickly learn.
- Familiarity with metrics and visibility systems and concepts.
- Extensive knowledge and know-how in logistic processes.
- Green Belt Project Leader certification would be an asset.
- Strategic thinking to provide both short and long term solutions.
- Ability to solve complex problems with a cross functional team.
