Job Description
The Americas Global Trade Compliance Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the business throughout North and South America to manage the regional customs compliance program and oversee its expansion throughout the region. This position will report to the Customs Compliance Director, Global Trade Compliance within the Ethics & Compliance team and in the Legal Department and will join a close knit team of trade professionals around the globe.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct oversight of a large US focused customs compliance operation
- Conduct oversight of other import compliance matters within the region.
- Assist in building out global/region-specific trade compliance procedures and SOP’s
- Manage our Compliance Monitoring program, identify potential trade compliance risks, and drive corrective actions to improve compliance
- Support our global and Americas trade compliance program and initiatives, including by managing local compliance and filings
- Provide guidance to in-country teams for complying with WDC Global Trade Compliance policies (import and export) and other trade regulations including forced labor prevention, and Trade Agreement Act (TAA) compliance
- Monitor, report on, and develop strategies for navigating local and global trade regulations and developments impacting the region in collaboration with global trade compliance colleagues and other stakeholders
- Assist with deployment of global Ethics & Compliance and trade compliance initiatives, communications, and trainings, and promote a business culture of trade compliance and ethics
- Respond to escalations of Customs issues and or inquiries from relevant authorities
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in trade compliance roles, preferably with a technology/manufacturing company, customs experience focusing on the US and other jurisdictions throughout North and South America
- Strong knowledge of Customs regulatory tenants (tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin)
- University degree or relevant certification
- Excellent communication skills (including verbal and written English), strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail
- Strong business background, including history of translating trade compliance regulations to sustainable business process
- Ability to inform and influence leaders on matters of trade and customs compliance
- Experience working cross-functionally with various stakeholders including engineering and R&D teams
- Has delivered results for functional leaders on multiple projects and has the skills to lead projects and complete tasks independently
- Able to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with strong customer focus
- Action- and results-oriented

- Resilient and able to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs
- Nimble learner and quick to learn new and different technologies and stay abreast of compliance developments
- US Customs Broker Licensce strongly preferred, for those eligible
