About the role

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Interested in changing the landscape of artificial intelligence workloads? Come join the team architecting very high-performance memory systems for AI! In the Systems Pathfinding organization at Micron, we drive concepts across the stack, from applications to architectures and from concept to product. Interested in making a difference in the future of computing? This is your next opportunity!

As a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff or Fellow in AI Memory Systems Architecture, you will lead and be responsible for architecture exploration and definition of novel, tightly-coupled memory systems with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and yield working at the intersection between workloads, domain-specific architectures, memory systems, and heterogeneous integration. You will be part of a growing team of domain experts across platforms, systems architecture, component architecture, design, and advanced packaging. You will apply your deep knowledge of compute architecture and memory systems to drive optimizations enabled through advanced packaging. We encourage collaboration with technical partners across multiple domains in our effort to build the best memory systems in the world.

Our Expectations:

  • Extensive technical leadership experience with high-performance memory architectures, memory subsystems, and algorithms, including reliability, yield management, security, and scheduling.
  • Experience driving and documenting architectures in close collaboration with peers and collaborators.
  • Experience evaluating systems performance and value propositions with real workloads and use cases, whether through systems simulation tools or through emulation.
  • A history of building and driving deep, collaborative technical engagements with partners.
  • Ability to influence decisions through data-driven systems analysis.
  • Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • People leadership experience.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience creating architectural specifications.
  • Experience with high efficiency architectures and designs.
  • Experience with domain-specific architectures (NPUs, GPUs, or other accelerators).
  • Experience leading sophisticated system-on-a-chip (SoC) architecture efforts.
  • Experience with SoC design in a modern process node.
  • Solid AI inference and training systems experience.
  • Experience with 2.5D memory systems, like HBM.

How to Qualify

  • A Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of proven experience.
  • A track record of sustained innovation from pathfinding to product.
