About the Position: 

The Office of Student Academic Support is committed to creating and actualizing a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable university environment where all students feel supported and have the agency to be successful in their academic and personal journey at Cal State Fullerton. We are seeking an exceptional and dynamic individual to join the CSUF Academic Advising community as the Academic Preparation Advising Specialist (Student Services Professional III) focusing on supporting Early Assessment Program (EAP) and Supportive Pathways for First-Year Students Program (SPFYSP) initiatives. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Academic Advising, Operations and Specialized Programs, the Academic Preparation Advising Specialist collaborates with community and K-12 partners, as well as various CSUF offices and departments. The Academic Preparation Advising Specialist performs and delivers college preparation guidance, particularly through group workshops, to high school students in Southern California, focusing on the Orange County regional area. As a member of an innovative and visionary Academic Advising community, the Advising Specialist readily formulates and proposes creative approaches to elevate student academic readiness for successful admission and long-term persistence and degree completion at CSUF. Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating various academic preparation activities and events in secondary schools; coordinating meetings and developing strategies to support high schools to evaluate student’s academic preparation for CSU; and providing activities, such as individual and group advising workshops with an emphasis on college-readiness in Math and English. The Advising Specialist provides leadership support in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Supportive Pathways for First-Year Students program, a strategic initiative to support incoming first-year undergraduates with identified needs in written communication and/or mathematics/quantitative reasoning based on CSU placement categories. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to academic resources and enhancing the first-year experience for students through summer instructional phases and concurrent academic support.
