POSITION SUMMARY: Do you find yourself looking for a new sphere of influence in your academic career? Would you like to make a difference in the rapidly-growing medium of digital education? Our Digital Instruction Supervisor works with a group of video-course assistants, helping these individuals to develop their talents in the unique field of online video courses production. The Supervisor also works as a member of the management team providing input and insight into development and execution of training, the achievement of production goals, and the structuring of project teams.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with and influence direct reports (course assistants) towards better performance of assigned work responsibilities.
- Evaluate direct reports' performance in daily tasks and their progress towards annual goals helping these employees to navigate obstacles, set professional development goals, and to complete training and growth opportunities.
- Develop a plan for onboarding and training each new Digital Instruction employee as well as continued training/professional development for current employees and oversee the execution of training/professional development by responsible trainers assessing each employee's readiness.
- Determine resources needed to accomplish team goals and requisition those resources as needed or notify the Senior Manager of the need resources.
- Facilitate a spirit of teamwork and a culture of unity between content creators and production specialists within Academic Integrity and Content Development.
- Assist the Senior Manager with long-range planning (budget, production, policies, etc.) identifying needs and drafting proposals to secure needed resources.
- Attend meetings regarding startup and development of courses as needed to foster collaboration among project team.
- Review applications for open, direct-report positions, communicate with applicants, attend interviews, evaluate candidates, and make recommendations for hire to the Senior Manager.
- Approve timesheet submissions, correct timesheet errors, and approve Paid Personal Time and Sick Time for direct-report employees.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Able to communicate with individuals and groups with clarity, definitiveness, sensitivity, and empathy.
- Able to multi-task.
- Able to collaborate with both employees and management.
- Able to offer creative solutions and also able to self-limit those solutions in order to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exhibit patience with employees
- Basic understanding of BJU Press educational philosophy and the video-production process.
- Microsoft Office
- Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an education-related or publishing field. Master's degree preferred. Five or more years in a video production environment may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
