Job Summary
Location: Detroit, MI
This is a professional position providing accounting and financial support to the DTE Vantage organization. Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgement, initiative, and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepares and/or reviews journal entries at all levels of complexity, within Company closing schedule
- Performs account reconciliations at all levels of complexity
- Monitors the general ledger and accounting systems that contain the financial records and databases
- Completes monthly closing of books within timeframe to comply with holding company closing requirements
- Prepares and fully understands the billing and accounting for various projects as defined in the various project agreements
- Identifies issues and raises to the appropriate level
- Reviews contracts, ensuring accounting activities are in compliance with GAAP
- Understands and adheres to internal control policies and procedures
- Prepares the financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Prepares monthly management reports communicating the financial performance of the companies and variances from the budget
- Prepares independent audit schedules as required
- Participates in the development of budgets and projections
- Maintains relationships with other DTE Energy affiliate companies
- Serves as lead on special projects and may direct the work of others
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of two years of experience in accounting
Other Qualifications
Preferred:
- Certified Public Accountant accreditation a plus
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and basic knowledge of PowerPoint
- Experience with accounting software, SAP experience preferred

- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation skills
- Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines
- Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
- Ability to establish and maintain confidential and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management, and external clients
