We are seeking CNC Machinists to set up, operate, and monitor CNC equipment to machine ductile iron components with precision and consistency, while maintaining a strong focus on safety for yourself and others. 2nd Shift CNC Machinist employees start at $25.24 per hour. We offer low-cost medical insurance, dental coverage, life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability, a company-matched 401(k) plan, and ten (10) paid holidays. Employees are eligible for five (5) vacation days after six (6) months of continuous employment.

Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.

 

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Follow Supervisor/Team Lead instructions for setups and tooling.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections, start machines, and perform first part inspections.
  • Learn and follow all the work instructions.
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces using precision instruments.
  • Operate machines efficiently and safely.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools and fixtures under supervision.
  • Make minor fixture adjustments under supervision.
  • Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or change tooling/setup.
  • Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of workpieces.
  • Verify and record first part inspections.
  • Insert control instructions into machine control units.
  • Listen for issues during operations and make adjustments.
  • Replace dull cutting tools.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly workstation.

Education and/or Experience

  • Preferred: Associates degree in a technical field or training in a vocational school.
  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Consideration: One-years’ experience within the division as a driller or pattern rigger.
  • Computer Skills: Possess and use basic computer skills. 
  • Mastery: Ability to calibrate and read precision measuring devices. Working knowledge of mills and lathes tooling.
