Primary Duties
- Leads by example to promote excellence in resident care. Models professional demeanor and acts as a mentor.
- Demonstrates ability to delegate and achieve results through others.
- Demonstrates understanding of and ensures compliance with all State, Federal, and Joint commission requirements.
- Assumes leadership role for daily operations and takes appropriate action.
- Rounds on residents, nursing staff, and families daily to ensure good outcomes.
- Supervises nursing staff, assists with hiring, education and disciplinary action of nursing staff.
- Completes performance evaluations, and supervises scheduling.
- Assists with writing, revising, and ensures staff understand and are compliant with policies, procedures and standards.
- Demonstrates the ability to coordinate response to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Understands and demonstrates ability to work within the departmental budget.
- Assists Administrator to prepare operational and capital budget annually.
- Attends care conferences to ensure coordination of resident needs.
- Participates in facility monthly CQI and Quarterly CCC meetings with appropriate P.I. goals.
- Ensures staff schedule is accurate and timely.
Position Specifications
· Oversees nursing staff and patient care, ensuring high-quality service in cooperation with or in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Physical demands:
· Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)
· Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
· Manual dexterity and mobility
· Lifts, positions and/or transfers Residents
· Occasional prolonged standing/walking.
· Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment
Working Conditions:
· Contact with residents/patients under a wide variety of circumstances
· May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
· Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
Minimum Education/Certification
· Associate Degree
· Current California Registered Nurse License (RN)
· BLS Certification
Minimum Experience
· 2 years’ experience as an RN
· Previous Subacute/ventilator experience preferred
