We are looking for a committed Chief Engineer to manage, lead, and orchestrate engineering across our portfolio of RapidAdapt products and solutions that deliver all-domain distributed command and control solutions to our customers. Solve unique, challenging problems for our Defense and Homeland Security customers. Help manage large volumes of critical, real-time information about issues from global to local. Get s#it done.
This role requires the ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance. A current active clearance not required to apply.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Direct the technical organization and manage work sequencing
- Work side by side with Program and Product Managers as a key technical interface to understand requirements, deliverables, milestones, cost constraints, and business context to ensure the organization delivers technical solutions and products on time with high quality and reliability
- Responsible for the day to day operations of the Engineering organization, ensuring processes are being followed, cross-team coordination is happening, and overall focuses on increasing the velocity of the entire organization
- Provide technical leadership across a number of engineering teams to identify and resolve issues
- Manage and mentor multiple teams of engineers, through direct supervision of several team leads
- Lead, coordinate, and support overall system design activities
- Drive the technical planning of engineering activities to ensure organization is focused on the most important tasks and available resources are properly apportioned to those tasks
- Understand the dependencies the customer's efforts have with other System of System needs, timelines and life-cycle requirements
- Establish a technical approach and strategy that can meet RII's contractual requirements and deliver on the aligned interests established for the program
- Help develop and communicate overall program system architecture and key performance measures
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- BS in Computer Science, equivalent degree, or previous work experience
- 15+ years experience participating in or leading teams through the entire software development life cycle
- 8+ years experience leading distributed development and engineering teams
- 5+ years experience with software product portfolio management
- 5+ years experience with project management or program management
- 5+ years experience with budgeting, estimating, and forecasting
- 5+ years experience with change management processes and execution
- 5+ years experience with continuous improvement and refinement
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, including executive level, and across organizational boundaries
- Ability to think strategically and plan both short- and long-term strategic goals. You understand the big picture in terms of leading the organization forward, not just solely focused on day-to-day tactical execution
- Ability to be a change management agent, adapting as needed and guiding others to process improvement as we continue to grow
- Ability to remain positive under competing priorities
- Ability to collaborate across lines of business to deliver optimal solutions
- Ability to think creatively and challenge the status quo
- Ability to lead by example
- Ability to make evidence-based decisions and institute process to implement for long term solutions
