Job Description

 

It’s an exciting time to be part of the Nutrition & Biosciences family at IFF. Nutrition & Biosciences is recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic to join its dynamic team located at its manufacturing site in Gibson City, IL.

This role is responsible for maintaining manufacturing/packaging equipment at required operating levels at the site. The incumbent will be replacing parts, repairing equipment, and preventative maintenance. This is a day shift role that will require a rotating, on-call schedule.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

 

• Execute work orders
• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment as assigned
• Install and align new equipment
• Service, troubleshoot, and repair any problem of any nature in mechanical and electrical area including, but not limited to, pumps, grinders, fire protection, boilers, electrical circuits, motors, controllers, pneumatic controls and valves, computer interfacing and maintenance
• Gather and process data from multiple sources related to electrical failures
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs and VSDs
• Troubleshoot and repair Variable Speed Drives
• Verify job is complete and machine made whole before turn over
• Maintain site safety and environmental requirements and policies
   

Job Requirements

 

The following are required:

 

 

• High School Diploma/GED
• 3+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, military, or related role
• A basic knowledge of hand tools and troubleshooting skills
• Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Positive attitude with an open-minded approach to learning
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to gather information related to mechanical/electrical failures  
• Willing and able to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions 
• Willing and able to complete work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting
• Willing and able to climb and/or work in elevated areas
• Willing and able to stand and/or sit for extended periods
• Willing and able to work a day shift role with a rotating, on call schedule for a facility that operates 24/7
