<p>We are looking for a talented <strong>Product Design Technician - Level II</strong> to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Mineral Point, WI. </p> <p><strong>In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: </strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Ensure Specification Accuracy</strong>: You will create and maintain precise product drawings and models that meet Cummins, industry, and international standards—supporting product integrity and compliance.</li> <li><strong>Drive Quality Through GD&amp;T</strong>: By applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, you'll help ensure that parts fit and function as intended, reducing errors and improving manufacturability.</li> <li><strong>Safeguard Design Data</strong>: Your use of CAD data management tools will protect sensitive design information and maintain configuration control, supporting secure and efficient workflows.</li> <li><strong>Support Engineering Operations</strong>: Processing internal engineering work requests keeps projects moving and ensures timely delivery of design updates and documentation.</li> <li><strong>Collaborate Across Functions</strong>: Engaging with cross-functional teams will help align design specifications with broader engineering, manufacturing, and quality goals.</li> <li><strong>Uphold Standards and Best Practices</strong>: You will contribute to the development and maintenance of drawing standards and practices, reinforcing consistency and excellence across the organization.</li> <li><strong>Enhance Drawing Quality</strong>: Participating in Drawing Quality Reviews allows you to identify and correct issues early, improving the overall reliability of product documentation.</li> <li><strong>Impact Product Lifecycle</strong>: Your work directly influences how products are designed, built, and maintained, playing a key role in Cummins’ performance and customer satisfaction.</li> </ul> <p><strong>To be successful in this role you will need the following: </strong></p><ul><li><strong>Strong CAD Modeling Skills</strong>: Ability to create accurate and standards-compliant Computer Aided Design models that support system-level analyses like Dimensional Variation and Finite Element Analysis.</li><li><strong>Deep Understanding of Mechanical Systems</strong>: A solid grasp of mechanical design principles and lifecycle requirements to develop innovative, robust solutions that meet both Cummins and customer expectations.</li><li><strong>Specification Development Expertise</strong>: Proficiency in generating complete and precise product specifications—including solid models, BOMs, and detailed drawings—that clearly communicate design intent across functions.</li><li><strong>Effective Configuration and Change Management</strong>: Skill in managing product data from concept through obsolescence, ensuring traceability, integrity, and timely communication of changes.</li><li><strong>Decision-Making and Results Orientation</strong>: Ability to make sound, timely decisions and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes, even in complex or high-pressure situations.</li><li><strong>Complex Problem-Solving</strong>: Capacity to analyze and make sense of large volumes of technical information, including contradictory data, to solve design and engineering challenges effectively.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Education/Experience</strong></p><ul><li><p>High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required. </p></li><li><p>Regionally applicable certification or two-year associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required. </p></li><li><p>This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.</p></li><li><p>Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.</p></li></ul> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Ensures model and drawing quality.</p></li><li><p>Creates and maintains product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing.</p></li><li><p>Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and to maintain security.</p></li><li><p>Ensures application of company, industry, national, and international standards.</p></li><li><p>Processes internal engineering work requests.</p></li><li><p>Engages with required functional areas as needed.</p></li><li><p>Participate in the maintenance of standards and practices which ensure quality.</p></li><li><p>Participate in Drawing Quality Reviews, tooling design, process troubleshooting, and safety/production improvements. </p></li><li><p>Cross functional team involvement </p></li></ul> <p></p> Cummins is an equal opportunity employer.
