2025 Summer Intern, Early Child Education - Office of Head Start

ICF seeks an intern to help support our important work in Early Child Care and Education projects that support the Office of Head Start. The Intern will perform routine financial and administrative activities in support of a project, and may coordinate project requirements with other departments including Business Development, Contracts and Risk Management, Finance, HR, and Facilities. The intern may edit and distribute internal communications going to the project teams from the leadership team and assists in developing other communications as requested.
Our 2025 Summer Internship is a 10-week, full-time program that generally begins in early June and concludes in mid-August. The internship can be fully-remote from any U.S. location (may consider hybrid depending on location). For hybrid locations, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance at this time.
Responsibilities:
Provides support to the Project Directors in developing and implementing policies that have fiscal impacts.
Provide supports to the Project Directors in completing fiscal management reporting, and coordinating ongoing data collection efforts for the purpose of financial and contract management (forecasting revenue, staff leave and ODCs).
Provides support with expense reports including, tracking/reporting, staff training and technical support to project staff.
Assists in the development and regular updating of internal tracking mechanisms.
Ensures version control and takes the lead in maintaining and archiving all final documents
Participates in the clarification and refinement of data as needed.
Prepares reports from databases to assist the Special Projects team in their work.
Assists in the development of accurate, easily understood resources.
Oversees the organization and management of resources.
Assists in the migration of files and resources as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration, Public Administration, Policy or related field preferred (with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later)
Preferred Skills:
Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfort with a wide range of technologies including, Deltek, SharePoint, SmartSheet.
Strong business acumen
Experience with spreadsheets application (MS Excel, Smartsheet)
Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision
Excellent written and oral communications skills with sound attention to detail
Ability to work with all levels of internal management and utilize internal resources
Exceptional analytical skills to sift through high volumes of data and information
Ability to prioritize, multitask and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and di
