Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Information Systems Analyst 1 for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to provide professional support to facility end users in the design and development of new facility-specific computer applications and in the modification of applicants to resolve user problems and meet user needs. Serves as the facility’s Local Area Network (LAN) administrator. Develops policy, implements procedures and expands and manages LAN applications and equipment which link databases and communication software. Serves as the Facility Designated Person (DP) liaison to the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT).
Essential Functions
- Provides technical and analytical support for staff using database management systems.
- Develops, administers and maintains the facility’s Local Area Network (LAN).
- Provides application design and program coding for “special” processing needs too large for end user computing on information center systems or when information center software products fail to meet user needs and when the application is too small to require application development by data processing.
- Interfaces between user and host computer support staff, specific product vendors and members of DoIT to complete projects, tasks and to resolve problems.
- Assesses facility needs for computer hardware/software training.
- Creates operational manuals containing program documentation, record layouts, computerized sheets and special instructions.
- Monitors the overall telecommunications operations (pagers, two-way radios, cell phones and landline phones).
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a related Information Technology field.
