The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) Software Engineer to join the Air Dominance division located in Berkeley, MO. This position will lead the VMS Software team on the T-7A next generation U.S. Air Force (USAF) Trainer, with growth opportunities envisioned as well. The position will be in the Air Dominance VMS Software organization which portfolio includes: T-7A, MQ-25, F-15, F/A-18, and new Proprietary Programs for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS).
The successful candidate will work with an existing interdisciplinary team of real-time embedded software engineers, guidance navigation and control (GNC) engineers, and hardware engineers to develop safety critical software on T-7A aircraft. VMS software integrates flight control laws, aircraft surface command, aircraft sensor signal processing and subsystem control to ensure controlled flight & pilot safety. The software developed will include application layer software and low-level infrastructure software which will require close collaboration with hardware/firmware vendors. The software engineer will not only take part in software development, but will participate in the full development lifecycle; including requirements development, desktop test, lab test and support of flight test.
Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
Works under minimal direction
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
7+ years of experience in software development in avionics and/or real-time embedded systems using C/C++, Ada, C# and/or Java
7+ years of experience in embedded real-time software development
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working with Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Experience with object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) methodologies
Experience with Agile software development
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
