About the role

DUTIES: UL Fire and Security Service Solutions Engineering Services: Establishment, handling and completion of engineering projects (New work Listing Investigations) in multiple Certificate Services Programs/product categories/CCNs by analyzing project scope and determining project specifications, establishing test programs for complex listing investigations, and preparing reports for UL & ULC clients and listees. Listing Investigation/Engineering Project Reviewer for certificate services team: Being L3 engineering project reviewer in multiple categories/UL standards, perform review of new work projects for the team members, checking the accuracy of their work and ensuring all the standard requirements are met. Resolves complex engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations. Perform certificate services follow up annual audits in multiple Certificate Services Programs under UL and ULC standards: CAN/ULC 561, CAN/ULC S301, UL827, UL681, NFPA72, CAN/ULC S302, CAN/ULC S1001, CAN/ULC S536, CAN/ULC S537. Plan, schedule and provide technical training and assistance to certificate services field auditors including new hires and entry level auditors to increase the group capacity and technical competency in multiple standards like CAN/ULC 561, CAN/ULC S301, CAN/ULC S302, CAN/ULC S1001, CAN/ULC S536 and CAN/ULC S537 standards. Development of departmental Standard Operating Procedures ‘SOPs’ for Certificate Services Programs - Engineering Services and Certificate Services Programs – Field Audits, UL requirements and test methods for new certificate services programs and Certificate Services Program Data Sheets, Product Information Sheet, Site Installation Sheets and Physical inspection datasheet for multiple CCNs/categories. May work from a home office anywhere in the US.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related discipline, and 8 years of experience to involve: (1) establishing, handling and completing of engineering projects, including Facilities Listing Investigations, in multiple Certificate Services Programs/product categories/CCNs by analyzing project scope and determining project specifications, establishing test programs for complex listing investigations, and preparing reports for clients and listees; (2) conducting Listing inspections for all burglar and fire alarm systems, by examining and evaluating equipment to verify that components are compatible with each other and the system meets applicable standards, including Facilities Listing Investigations; (3) preparing procedure reports, correspondence and associated materials related to new work, revisits, and Listing inspections; (4) performing certificate services follow up annual audits in multiple Certificate Services Programs under UL and ULC standards, including: CAN/ULC 561, CAN/ULC S301, UL827, UL681, NFPA72, and CAN/ULC S302; (5) conducting all burglar and fire alarm system field inspections and service tests to determine that assigned alarm installation companies are providing Certificates and service in compliance and other applicable requirements; (6) performing a review of new work projects for the team members, checking the accuracy of their work and ensuring all the standard requirements are met; (7) resolving complex engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations; (8) providing technical training to certificate services field auditors team, including new hires and entry level auditors, to increase the group capacity and technical competency in multiple standards; and (9) assisting in the development of departmental Standard Operating Procedures ‘SOPs’ for Certificate Services Programs.  

May work from a home office anywhere in the US.

Salary Range: $104,083 - $154,200/year.
