A Day in the Life
In this role, you will join a world class team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the HUGO Robotic Assisted Surgery platform. Medtronic’s Surgical Operating Unit is one new, powerful operating unit bringing together the people and product portfolio of Surgical Robotics and Surgical Innovations. With the Medtronic Mission as our North Star, we will build on our legacy of proven surgical solutions and advance the promise of robotics and digital solutions for the benefit of the customers and patients we serve.As Senior Software Product Engineer within Released Product Engineering (RPE) you will use your understanding of software systems, systems engineering methodologies and product lifecycle management experience to ensure delivery of consistent clinical quality for the Hugo platform through Release Product Software for Surgical OU RPE organization. This role involves developing strategic product roadmaps, software version architecture and leading critical sustainability efforts by ensuring alignment with complex hardware subsystems.

Location: On-site Boston, MA and/or North Haven, CT
You will:
· Communicate with internal & external stakeholders, and those interactions will influence product roadmap prioritization and identifying the appropriate timelines to influence meaningful change.
· Responsible for production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, and problems; device specification and yield problems; minor redesign of devices and masks; analysis of customer returns; supplier related engineering changes and optimizing device production relative to cost constraints.
· Assumes responsibility for device and/or internally produced or externally purchased components after transfer into high-volume production and usually responsible for entire device manufacturing operations other than wafer fabrication.
· May assist customer in device usage problems or customer testing of complex devices.
· Maintains working knowledge of the system design and performance against the requirements.
· Good understanding of structured product development (requirements-driven engineering, documentation, rigorous verification, etc.) Engineering verification test development and execution
· Contributes to the assessment of proposed design changes and impact based on test evidence.
Must Have:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar with 4+ years of engineering experience
· An advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar with 2+ years of engineering experience
Nice to Have:
· 5-7 years of medical device engineering experience
· Experience with a large company with a global footprint, understanding of matrix structures, and having project management experience executing goals with cross functional teams using Agile/Scrum/SAFe methodologies.
