About the role

Overview

The ROOTS Program Facilitator will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of the ROOTS program (Rooted in Outdoor Opportunities for Teen Success) in Grand and San Juan Counties. ROOTS is a community-based outdoor and youth engagement initiative led by USU Extension and supported through UCORE funding. This position works closely with the CUBE Program Director and San Juan County Home and Community Faculty to carry out program activities that strengthen community engagement, expand access to outdoor opportunities, and support youth participation in locally relevant programming.

 

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah and requires regular travel between Grand and San Juan Counties, including occasional evening and weekend activities based on program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CUBE Program Director to plan and implement ROOTS program activities in Grand and San Juan Counties.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, trainings, and outdoor/community events
  • Assist with outreach efforts to recruit participants and engage local partners
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, agencies, and residents
  • Support program logistics, including scheduling, communication, materials preparation, and event setup
  • Track program activities, collect data, and assist with reporting requirements
  • Promote ROOTS activities through flyers, newsletters, and communication channels
  • Provide general administrative and program support as needed
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, local agencies, and program partners, to support program goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience supporting community-based programs or outreach efforts
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with event coordination or program support
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Familiarity with Grand and San Juan Counties or rural communities

$20.00 an hour

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions (such as typing). The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Regular travel is an essential function of this position.
