Job Description

THIS POSITION CAN BE LOCATED IN EITHER IRVINE, CA or San Jose, CA

• Responsible for advanced HDD system design as well as the integration of the new technologies into the new product designs
• Work with cross-functional groups on qualifying technology designs into products.
• Lead efforts on enabling technologies for next generation HDD products.
• Work with equipment development group on characterizing system level read/write data path.
• The Engineer must establish close collaboration with peers and must exercise creativity to enable progress in advanced HDD technology development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. + 5 Year or MS + 8 Year experience, degree in EE or related field
• 3-5 years of prior experience in disk drive industry is highly desired
• HAMR product or proto-type development experience is plus.
• Experience with statistical data analysis and Design of Experiment (DOE) is required
• The candidate should have a strong background in advanced system characterization and/or integration, and read channel experience in magnetic recording
• Applies advanced technical expertise to manage complex programs
• Helps develop and implement innovative solutions for complex, specialized technical issues
• Works proactively; identifies and helps prevent problems that may cross disciplines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
