Job Description
The on-call Senior Wetland Ecologist (Ecologist) will oversee aquatic resources delineations mostly throughout Northern California, consistent with the 1987 Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wetland Delineation Manual (Environmental Laboratory 1987) and the Arid West and Western Mountains, Valleys, and Coast Regional Supplements to the USACE Manuals. The Ecologist will provide senior review of aquatic resource delineation approaches and aquatic resources delineation reports.
The Ecologist will join an existing team of natural resources professionals that includes wildlife biologists, botanists, wetland ecologists, restoration ecologists, and regulatory specialists and will work closely with ICF senior project managers on complex aquatic resource delineations.
About On-Call Employment with ICF
Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (typically a few weeks beforehand), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in each week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work, they do for ICF).
What You Will Do
Provide senior peer review on complex aquatic resources delineations.
Work collaboratively in a team environment with senior biologists and regulatory specialists to develop approaches for conducting complex delineations
Peer review aquatic resources delineation reports and other technical documents according to current regulations.
Basic Qualifications
BS in Soil Science, Botany, Biology, or Ecology, or related field
20+ years of experience with aquatic resources delineations
In-depth knowledge and applied experience with soil science, particularly in agricultural and disturbed wetland systems
Additional Skills
Knowledge and applied experience with federal and state regulations surrounding wetlands and waterways (e.g., Clean Water Act Sections 404, 401, and Fish and Game Code Section 1600 et. seq.)
