Barber Prep is part of ACCEL Schools, an established network of public charter schools serving K-12 students throughout the United States since 2014.</span></p> <p><span><strong>About the Opportunity:</strong></span></p> <p><span>The Special Education Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides comprehensive speech-language pathology services to students with disabilities in the school setting. This position is dedicated to evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders that impact educational performance. The Speech-Language Pathologist collaborates with special education teams, general education staff, families, and community partners to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote student communication development, academic success, and social-emotional well-being.</span></p> <p><span><strong>Responsibilities of the Speech – Language Pathologist</strong></span></p> <ul> <li><span>Provide high quality speech-language therapy services to a wide variety of students in grades K-8 in Highland Park, MI </span></li> <li><span>Conduct standard and non-standardized assessments, analyze results and write reports to determine strengths and concerns in the areas of motor speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, literacy, and dysphagia</span></li> <li><span>Develop treatment plans that are strength based as well as child and family centered</span></li> <li><span>Ensure that IEP, Evaluation and progress monitoring procedures adhere to the district, state and federal guidelines</span></li> <li><span>Collect ongoing daily data and adapt treatment accordingly based on trends in student performance </span></li> <li><span>Attend IEP and Evaluation meetings and provide necessary documentation for team to review in a timely manner </span></li> <li><span>Collaborate with classroom teachers and all other members of a student’s educational team</span></li> <li><span>Demonstrate knowledge of the Common Core Standards, aligning them with treatment objectives</span></li> <li><span>Develop, follow and communicate to building leaders and department supervisors, a daily schedule</span></li> <li><span>Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and pursue professional development in maintenance of state board licensure and for addressing student and caseload needs </span></li> <li><span>Facilitate effective student communication abilities across all modes and levels of language</span></li> <li><span>Participate in building-based intervention processes to support students and teachers</span></li> <li><span>Develop functional use of district software for purposes of special education compliance and accountability reporting</span></li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span><strong>About You</strong></span></p> <ul> <li><span>Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program required.</span></li> <li><span>Current Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).</span></li> <li><span>Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred but not required, unless required by the district or position.</span></li> <li><span>Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance preferred.</span></li> <li><span>Experience providing speech-language evaluations, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapy services to school-age students preferred.</span></li> <li><span>High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.</span></li> <li><span>Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.</span></li> <li><span>Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook.</span></li> <li><span>Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.</span></li> <li><span>Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.</span></li> <li><span>Ability to successfully pass fed
