The Role ✨
We are looking for a talented frontend engineer to cover a key position in our product and engineering team while they are on maternity leave. This will be a 6-month contract paid on a day rate. We are open to seeing various profiles for this position, whether you are looking for a full-time position, returning back to work, looking for a role that is part-time (3 days a week minimum) or just require a bit of flexibility in your working pattern. We pride ourselves on creating a flexible and supportive working environment and are willing to explore various working options.
What you’ll work on ✍🏻
You’ll work on the entire customer-facing journey (e.g. searching, buying, managing rent) as well as the internal tools needed to ensure our operations team can work efficiently.- Building new features for our customer-facing websites and internal operational tooling
- Taking ownership of at least one of our main projects while maintaining and improving on our existing ones
- Discussing technical decisions on frontend tooling and architecture with other members of the team
- Be an active participant in our retros, workshops and discussions
- Working with the rest of the team in reviewing upcoming features and contribute to both user stories, acceptance criteria and reviewing designs for feasibility
- Sharing technical knowledge through code reviews and pair programming
Who you are 🤩
- You’re experienced and knowledgeable with our stack:
- Semantic HTML
- CSS
- Javascript (we use Typescript for types but it can be picked up quickly)
- React and related libraries/frameworks
- You’re pro-active and a team player
- You’re curious about frontend tech and enjoy learning new things
- Someone with a good sense of design, an understanding of what makes a good user experience
- You are able to communicate fluently in English.

Flexible working 💻
We are a remote first business with no specific obligations to come into the office (unless you want to). We have a (dog friendly) office in central London if you're unable or don’t want to work from home, or just prefer the buzz of a co-working space. We want to support making your working experience as as enjoyable and productive as possible; so if there is a specific way you want to work or you have particular requirements, let us know: we're always open to discussing it.We are happy to consider candidates outside of the UK as long as you are able to work within +/- 2 hours GMT and you have the right to work in your current location without a visa (Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sponsorship at this stage.)
Hiring Process 🌱
- CV review
- 30 minute initial video call to surface alignment with the HR Manager
- A more in depth competency interview with the Head of Engineering (hiring manager)
- A more in depth competency interview including a pair programming exercise with 2 other engineers. We’ll share the task beforehand, so the problem that we’re working on wouldn’t be a surprise.
