Position Overview:

An Assembler is responsible for production-assembly, work is highly repetitive; ability to work following a prescribed routine or where method of assembly is obvious. Must have the ability to follow demonstrated steps. This job requires the operator to run machines to do a specific machining process to molded plastic parts. Operator will have complete and thorough training from the Equipment Programmer/Operator before running this equipment.  Operator must correctly place the parts on the machine fixture and secure them using the foot pedal or the hand controls.  May need to deburr and/or gauge parts during the machine cycles. Operators are required to select program, change fixtures, & run the machines and are not permitted to program unless properly trained and authorized to do so.  Must be able to record process control data, read and interpret blueprint tolerances, use measurement tools properly, start-up and shut down equipment, and operate tools independently.

Essential Functions:

  • Position requires operators to be mechanically inclined with basic reading, writing and mathematics skills
  • Position requires operator to work in a team environment, follow direction, read work instructions, and prepare container tickets, including addition and subtraction of part counts
  • Organizational skills Required to multitask Use hand tools, scales, and other process related equipment such as fixtures, assembly presses and drill presses
  • Some hand tools require the operator to be ambidextrous
  • Position requires standing for extended periods of time / sitting for extended periods of time
  • Moderate lifting up to 50 lbs, lifting assistance is provided when necessary
  • Fine hand manipulation, pinching, pulling and grasping of small-medium-large parts is required
  • Operator must have full range of motion in hands, arms, legs, neck and back to perform job duties
  • Job requires the use of chemicals
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English; excellent written and verbal communication is required.   
  • The position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic reading and math skills
  • Must have normal to high manual dexterity skills
  • Must be able to use all required hand tools, machinery and variable gauges
  • Must be qualified and competent after a reasonable predetermined training period based on job complexity
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English; excellent written and verbal communication is required.   

Working Conditions:

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area where conditions require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes/boots and hearing protection.

Primary environment:

 Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Area is non-temperature controlled, resulting in hot temperatures during summer months. Typical hazards may include but are not limited to, ergonomic issues, burns, bruises, cuts, heavy lifting, fumes, slippery floors, machine hazards, chemicals, gasses, body injuries, etc., may be encountered; however, protective measures have been put in place in the form of machine guards, ergonomic stretch program, identified hazards documented on the work instructions, proper hand tools, environmental, health and safety training and PPE.
