Job Summary: The Outside Sales Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading training programs for all outside sales representatives. This role works closely with the service sales team and the service sales manager to ensure alignment with company goals, enhance sales performance, and drive continuous improvement. The trainer will play a key role in onboarding new sales staff, coaching existing team members and supporting the overall sales strategy.

- Develop a deep understanding of fire protection products and services, including portable fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, kitchen hood suppression systems, fire alarm, sprinkler systems, clean agent suppression systems, and alarm monitoring.
- Conduct sales calls to prospective clients to expand the inspection and service business by onboarding new customers.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified sales opportunities to meet or exceed assigned sales goals and performance benchmarks.
- Perform outreach to existing customers to generate additional service sales and convert installation/construction clients into recurring service accounts.
- Represent the company at customer sites, during training sessions, at trade shows, and other business development events, which may occasionally occur outside of normal business hours.
- Stay current on market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape through direct engagement, research, and networking.
- Continuously enhance technical knowledge by attending internal training, shadowing field technicians, and reviewing product/service documentation.
- Lead client-facing initiatives such as presentations, “lunch and learn” events, and other strategic meetings aimed at building long-term relationships.
- Function primarily in a field-based capacity, with office time dedicated to team collaboration, planning, and contributing to the department’s strategic direction.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of sales experience with proven proficiency in key sales competencies, including prospecting, contact scheduling, identifying buying signals, negotiating, and closing deals.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships while delivering exceptional service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with great plains, ServicePoint, and SharePoint is a plus.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated and goal driven, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Team oriented with a strong commitment to contributing to team success and overall company performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities and a professional, persuasive presence.
