Job Summary

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Partner serves as a liaison with Network Planning and Fleet Strategy to create, maintain, and champion the capacity forecast and its corresponding metrics and implications. This role also includes financial and analytical support of Network Planning actions and initiatives, as well as assisting with industry reporting and executive support of commercial Q&A and external communications. The FP&A Partner has a strategic mindset and is excited to be part of meaningful and impactful initiatives and drive the future of Southwest.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic and financial partner with Department Leaders, Consultants, and/or Senior Partners in determining key strategic business objectives by influencing business decisions and by providing proactive recommendations, supported by strong financial analysis and “Storytelling”
  • Participate in strategy development and planning, facilitate the financial planning processes, and develop metrics to monitor performance against strategic objectives
  • Deliver timely financial analytics, provide insights into variances, and offer business counsel to measure business performance and strategic initiative progress, and interpret and make effective recommendations to Leadership using benchmarking, trends, and other planning methods
  • Translate business and industry data into actionable insights and KPIs to ensure the best decision for Southwest
  • Serve as a financial expert to multiple levels of Business Leadership by interpreting complex financial information and support the organization in decision-making, communication, and collaboration with key Stakeholders to ensure they are educated on trade-offs and downstream impacts of decisions
  • Build compelling Executive level presentations, including Board of Directors and Earnings-related materials
  • Monitors business performance and KPI’s.
  • Provide consultation services to leadership on the use and interpretation of analyses, reports, methodologies, and source data systems
  • Support the businesses in executing its strategic/operational objectives and undertake ad hoc analyses and special projects
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of financial principles and practices and how to utilize them, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
