Columbia Association (CA) is a nonprofit community services organization that manages Columbia, Maryland—home to 105,000 residents and ranked the #1 Happiest City in Maryland (WalletHub) and Best Place to Live (Livability.com, Niche.com). We operate a wide network of top-tier recreational facilities, including three full-service fitness clubs, golf courses, an ice rink, racquet clubs, and pools.

Columbia Association is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and community-focused General Manager to lead operations at the Columbia Ice Rink, a beloved and bustling hub for skating, hockey, and recreational programming.

In this leadership role, you’ll oversee all aspects of the rink’s performance—from strategic planning and day-to-day operations to team leadership and member engagement. The ideal candidate brings a mix of operational expertise, people-first leadership, and a passion for delivering exceptional recreational experiences to the community.

• About Columbia Ice Rink

A 17,000 sq. ft. regulation-size rink with seating for 400, the Columbia Ice Rink is home to a broad spectrum of offerings—from hockey leagues and figure skating to public sessions, lessons, rentals, parties, and events. The rink supports more than just skating—it's a space where community and connection take center ice.

• What You’ll Do:

Provide strategic and operational leadership of Columbia Ice Rink, ensuring excellence in programming, safety, guest services, and facility standards

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of full-time and part-time staff to deliver a world-class member and guest experience

Oversee programming, scheduling, and coordination for public skate sessions, figure skating, hockey leagues, and rentals

Manage budgets, financial performance, payroll, and cost control strategies to meet division goals

Ensure compliance with safety standards, facility maintenance, and customer service protocols

Build strong relationships with skating clubs, local leagues, contractors, vendors, and community partners

Champion Columbia Association values and culture through strong internal communication, professionalism, and inclusive leadership

• What We’re Looking For:

Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in facility management, recreation, sports, or hospitality

Experience managing team performance, budgets, scheduling, and operational systems

Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

Knowledge of or experience with ice rink operations, skating programs, or related activities is preferred

Customer-first mindset and a commitment to community impact

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with POS or scheduling software is a plus

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000. The actual salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position and the budgeted amount for the role. CA offers a positive, fun work environment and a generous benefit package.
