Summer Youth Internship 2025

Wage: $16.00/hr.

Job Summary:

Job shadows the sub-departments and learns about various functions within each department. 

Essential Functions:

• Assists assigned program day to day functions.
• Participates in weekly Professional Development Trainings.
• Crates a 500 word essay on the SYI participation.
• Assists in craft and culture classes as assigned.
• Assists programs within the assigned Department as needed.

• Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

• Must be 14-18 years of age and currently enrolled as a student in the 9-12 grade for the 2025-2026 school year or graduating in 2025.
• Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Dependable and willing to participate in additional training.

• Requires the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and community partners.
• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.

• Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
• Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
• Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
• Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
• Occasionally requires lifting of up to 20 pounds.
• This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.

• Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan. 

• Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
• Local travel is occasionally required.
