About the role

The Packer Collegiate Institute is looking for a Leave Replacement for Lower, Middle and Upper School Physical Education Teacher. The position offers an opportunity to be a part of the Physical Education department. Candidates should be able to work in collaboration with current members to continue the growth of the program and a willingness to offer new ideas and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Early Learning/ Lower School Responsibilities:

  • Lead or assist with dance classes in Kindergarten.

  • Work with other members of the Physical Education to create lesson plans and develop curriculum.

  • Continue professional development by attending meetings.

Middle/ Upper School Responsibilities:

  • Teach and take attendance for racquet sports volleyball,, fitness, for 7/8th grade students and 9-12th grade students.

  • Cover Middle School Lunch Duties

  • Work with other members of the Physical Education department to create lesson plans and develop curriculum.

  • Continue professional development by attending meetings

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies:

  • Familiarity with Reggio Emilia method preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of pedagogy and best practices of education.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Assess student performance and communicate student progress to families.

  • Assess student performance and write narrative reports to communicate student progress to families.

· Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education:

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of prior teaching experience

Physical Demands

Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

Salaries are determined based on a scale reflecting years of teaching experience and level of education.
