PULSE Construction Superintendent (Supervisor II)

MSTS is actively seeking a Construction Superintendent with experience supervising civil construction projects and a superintendent with underground improvement experience. As a Superintendent, the position will be expected to model company values and to supervise bargaining employee resources effectively and efficiently. Superintendents are responsible for scheduling, coordinating and supervising craft employee activities, and training. This may involve supervising one or more trade groups on the project sites. An Ability to clearly communicate both oral and written with craft, managers, customers, and vendors is a key responsibility for this position. Will work closely with Construction Managers regarding all project activities. At MSTS, Superintendents are encouraged to keep all lines of communication open with the bargaining employees, project managers, and construction managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Directly supervise individual contributors, including approving time, conducting performance evaluations, and participating in the recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training of craft staff.
• Implement and follow company policies, procedures and directives.
• Oversee daily field work by actively monitoring work areas, and craft personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality, standards and project specifications. 
• Proactively address field work safety and quality issues to maintain productivity and mitigate risk.
• Establish activity level work assignments and, or work projects.
• Provide support in the preparation and schedule alignment of budgetary estimates, including validation of the estimates for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with corporate procedures.
• Complete weekly, bi-weekly and monthly project updates as required to support schedule reviews, progress reporting, and project performance.

• Organize and supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring that schedules are kept.
• Work closely with the construction manager to track and approve bargaining personnel work hours weekly ensuring time is charged accurately.
• Establish and maintain a solid working relationship with union hall representatives for the bargaining personnel that you supervise.
• Working knowledge of union practices.
• Monitor performance against metrics and goals as established/approved by others.
• Coordinate project-related activities with General Foreman and Foreman.
• Ensure that required equipment is on the project when needed.
• Assist Work Planning with estimates regarding, labor, and equipment needs when requested.
• Ability to handle daily project problems quickly and efficiently.
• Responsible for working within assigned budget.
• Ability to work occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime when necessary.
• Perform other duties assigned by Management.

• Bachelors' degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
• A construction or industrial construction background is required. 
• Experience with piping installation and fabrication, particularly in high-specification and regulatory environments is strongly preferred.
