The Healthcare Analytics Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines to support Medicare Advantage, Traditional Medicare ACO, and value-based care analytics. Success means delivering accurate, timely healthcare data into our warehouse to enable high-impact insights. This role is essential to supporting growth, ensuring data consistency across markets, and improving operational efficiency. It sits at the intersection of technical and business teams, driving smarter, data-informed decisions and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design and implement an automated data ingestion framework to securely transfer files from SFTP servers and online portals to the data warehouse, ensuring data integrity and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Lead the transformation and onboarding of diverse data sources, including Medicare Advantage and traditional Medicare ACO payor data, into the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to data governance standards.
  • Oversee the reassessment and enhancement of the current data ingestion processes to accommodate organizational growth and improve consistency across multiple payor types, ensuring scalability and performance optimization.
  • Conduct continuous monitoring and maintenance of existing payors by executing regular validation of files, ingestion processes, and quality checks to uphold the highest standards of data quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, business analysts, and data scientists to enhance ingestion workflows, bridging technical and business requirements to create streamlined and effective data pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain new consolidated data models and tables that integrate various files provided by payors, including lab results, capitation details, and service fund models, to support downstream analytics and reporting needs.
  • Lead in designing and developing semantic layers on EDW tables to facilitate faster querying, enriched data exploration, and improved efficiency in analytics and reporting processes.
  • Transform and process BCDA files for pre-adjudicated ACO Reach claims, ensuring data is ready for effective utilization within analytic solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the data engineering workflows, fostering innovative solutions that enhance overall data utilization and analytics capabilities.
  • Mentor junior data engineers, providing guidance on best practices for data ingestion and transformation, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the data engineering team.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the healthcare sector to inform strategic decisions and ensure compliance with data protection policies.
  • Participate in the development of data governance frameworks and policies to ensure high standards of data quality, security, and compliance across all data engineering initiatives.
  • Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing and analyzing healthcare claims data, with a focus on value-based care models.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Health Insurance Claims data, specifically within Medicare Advantage plans and traditional Medicare Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs).
  • Proven experience working within value-based care environments and handling relevant datasets, such as Managed Medicare Reimbursement (MMR) files, service funds, and additional healthcare data files.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, particularly in Snowflake, along with proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Requires a high level of technical skill combined with a deep understanding of healthcare data systems, ensuring effective data management and analytics to support strategic initiatives in the healthcare sector.
