The Department of Dance and Theatre is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and offers a BA degree in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology, and General Studies for approximately 400 theatre majors. The vibrant undergraduate program delivers a rigorous theatre education within a liberal arts context. The Department produces a full season of 5-6 productions as well as several laboratory events directed by faculty, guest artists, or students. Additionally, UNT Theatre is committed to hiring guest artists to engage with students and faculty.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of Dance and Theatre seeks to hire a continuing Lecturer. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a 4/4 teaching load (which includes opportunities to direct for departmental productions). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching foundational and advanced courses in directing as well as foundational courses in acting. Opportunities for course creation exist.
Minimum Qualifications
MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Directing, Acting or Performance Areas
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of at least one year of successful teaching in a university setting; professional directing experience.
